Editorial + story
Shape structure, performance, pacing, and point of view from large footage archives through final cut.
The person behind the work
I’m Timvan, also credited as Tim van Niekerk. I’m an independent creative based in Los Angeles, working across editing, motion, 3D/VFX, sound, and real-time experiences. Since 2010, I’ve helped teams find the story, solve the hard frames, and carry the work through to its finish.

The through line
My career started in recurring video production and grew through directing, editing, motion design, animation, VFX, sound, real-time production, and art direction. That range lets me see how one decision affects the whole finish.
Most clients do not need a list of software. They need someone who can find the structure, protect the idea, solve production problems, and deliver the work cleanly. I stay hands-on while bringing in trusted specialists when a scope genuinely needs more capacity.
That continuity extends to the client experience. Direct projects move through agreed milestones and visible review points. The work advances only after each major stage is approved. Feedback and decisions stay organized, so everyone knows what is approved, what is changing, and what comes next. For agency collaborations, I work inside the team’s established review system.
Capabilities
The mix changes by project. The advantage is continuity across the creative decisions, review points, and handoffs that shape the final piece.
