The assignment

The brief.

Crip Ya Enthusiasm combined Snoop Dogg with a Curb Your Enthusiasm-inspired animated world centered on the character Larry Dogg. Directors Jesse Wellens and James Defina developed the project with the Astro Project team.

Tim joined the Unreal Engine production and contributed simulations, 3D assets, vehicle rigging, pipeline support, and the procedural artwork system connected to the wider project.

What I handled

My role in the finished work.

A direct breakdown of the disciplines and deliverables I handled.

01

Simulation

Created the pyro simulation used for the food-truck explosion.

02

Asset creation

Modeled and textured props including the blunt, burrito, donuts, and branded food-truck elements.

03

Vehicle animation

Rigged and animated the Lincoln for the drive-through scene, with suspension and movement that give the car its character.

04

Procedural artwork

Created the visual variations and procedural artwork system for the related Astro Donuts collection.

Simulation

An explosion with comic impact.

I created the food-truck explosion, shaping the fire and smoke to land as a dramatic comic beat. The effect combines simulation and compositing within the video's stylized animated world.

Asset Creation

Props with personality.

The blunt, burrito, donuts, and branded food-truck elements are small details with a visible role in the story. I modeled and textured these assets to feel at home in the characters' world.

Rigging

Giving the Lincoln its character.

The Lincoln's loose suspension and rolling movement help sell the drive-through scene. I handled the vehicle rigging and animation, giving the classic car a sense of weight and personality.

Generative Art

A visual world beyond the film.

I developed the related Astro Donuts artwork collection, creating variations in form, finish, frosting, and decoration. The collection extends the music video's playful identity into a distinct body of digital artwork.

Creative focus

What gives the work its character.

Effects tied to story beats

The explosion, vehicles, and props were created for specific comic moments rather than as detached technical exercises.

Cross-application production

The role moved between modeling, simulation, rigging, and Unreal Engine integration as the shots required.

The outcome

Where the work landed.

The completed work appears in the released music video and its related Astro Project artwork.

  • Unreal Engine artists: Parker Chatham, Jarrod Chatham, James Defina, and Timvan
