The assignment

The brief.

Chris wanted his presentation to reflect ambitions beyond being known primarily as a DP. He entrusted me with creative direction of a showcase drawn from 11 TB of career-spanning footage, with the goal of opening up more directing and producing opportunities.

I shaped the film around his ability to capture human moments, bringing editorial, custom motion/VFX, and sound together into one expression of his range. A logo and website extended that presentation beyond the reel.

What I handled

My role in the finished work.

01

Editorial structure

Developed the showcase's creative direction and emotional arc from Chris's career-spanning body of work.

02

Motion and VFX

Created custom title cards, visual transitions, and effects-driven sequences that supported the rhythm of the edit.

03

Video Editor

Human connection at the heart of the reel.

Chris has a gift for making people comfortable on camera. Hearing Sevdaliza's ‘Human’ brought that quality into focus and gave the film its emotional foundation. I shaped the showcase around those human moments, connecting the range of his work through a clear point of view.

Distinct worlds. Continuous momentum.

Custom title cards, visual effects, and transitions give the reel its own identity. The opening moves through different aesthetics to establish Chris's range, while moments like the endless staircase carry the viewer from one world into the next.

Sound Design

Giving the picture a sound world.

Sound gives the film continuity as its visual worlds change. I shaped the atmosphere, accents, and transitions to support the human moments and carry the energy of the edit.

Carrying the identity into the website.
