Glimpsing Transformation: "I Found A Better Me" University Promo 2016

Undertaking a wide array of roles—from director and DP to video editor, animator, VFX compositor, storyboarder, and sound designer—In this project, I aimed to weave together a narrative that authentically captured the university's vibrant tapestry. The heartbeat of the video was a powerful spoken word excerpt from a student's event—an element that guided the creative flow. Throughout the video, various facilities, from art to medical, music to athletics, were elegantly showcased, accompanied by drone footage that provided a unique aerial perspective of the campus. Beyond a promotional piece, this video was a nod to the transformative experience that "Find a Better You" offered. The video played a pivotal role in the university's 2016 advertising campaign, a testament to the ability of well-crafted visuals to resonate deeply.

Director DP

In the role of director, I orchestrated the creative vision in collaboration with the Roberts Weleyan creative team. My aim was to translate concepts into compelling visuals that resonated with the audience in a digestible way. This role allowed me to meld storytelling with aesthetics, ensuring each frame held meaning but showcased the facilities of Roberts Wesleyan College

Editor

Editing this piece was mostly a challenge of following the story of the spoken word piece and taking a journey through the facilities to showcase the best of Roberts Wesleyan while building themes of transformation, legacy, excellence and representing the aesthetic of Roberts Wesleyan in a fresh new way.

The animation and vfx was crucial to building the momentum of this piece. Most of the animation timeline and scope was spent on building the intro sequence to grab the attention of viewers and lead into a flow of story and montage. I used the symbolism of vision and time as visual elements to draw the connection and strengthen the story.
